We have recently changed our protocol around urinary tract infections.
If you come into the surgery
If you present in person, you will be asked a series of questions by the receptionist or administrator who will then forward this information to the GP for assessment. At this point, if a sample is needed, you will be asked to provide (if you have not already done so).
You can request that the receptionist or administrator sends the questionnaire to you on your phone if you would prefer.
If you telephone us
If you contact us by telephone, we will send you a link with the same series of questions that you need to respond to. The receptionist or administrator will then forward this information to the GP for assessment. At this point, if a sample is needed, you will be asked to provide one and the assessment of your symptoms may not take place until we have received one.
Clinical review
Once we have all the information from you, including a urine sample if we have requested it, a GP will review your symptoms and decide the most appropriate treatment for you. This may not be prescribing antibiotics. One of the team at West Meon Surgery will contact you to advise of your treatment plan.

If you suffer from frequent UTIs, you may want to engage with the ‘Hydrate to Feel Great’ campaign. More information on this can be found HERE.
